What is a facilitator?

A facilitator promotes the idea of marae encounters and encourages the idea of dialogue between the two communities.
The facilitator may be from a third party, acting as a neutral guiding voice to help move the conversations along.

Facilitators may act as a mediator in difficult
situations for conflicting communities.

Supporting everyone to do their best thinking and allow group members to search for and build sustainable ties or bridges between communities is a key aspect of a facilitator's role.

Because facilitators help coordinate the logistics of the encounter as well as keep time, they are encouraged to contact former facilitators, from whom they can take advice from.
